Eye contact, under the car

Under a car is the best place on a hot street. Cool, dark, and with a low roof that nothing bigger than a cat can get under. This one was lying there in the blue shade with a strip of yellow chassis above its head, and it was watching the pavement.
Then it watched me. Cats give you that look for maybe two seconds before they decide you are boring. The eyes are green-gold and lit from the side by the light bouncing off the road, and the rest of the animal falls away into shadow.
The long lens is useful here. You do not have to lie in the road. You stay on the kerb and let 300mm do the crawling.
