Two on a branch

Wood pigeons are the big, grey, slightly clumsy pigeons of European woods and parks, with a white patch on the neck and a heavy wingbeat you can hear from across a field. They are usually in pairs, and the pair is usually on the same branch, and the branch is usually too high.

This one was not too high. Two birds side by side, a hand's width apart, looking in different directions, with the green of the canopy lit from behind. The light through the leaves is what makes the frame.

They watched me for a minute and did not leave. Wood pigeons are braver in parks than in woods, and this was a park.
