Green lattice

Not every frame needs a bird. This is a garden fence, green paint gone chalky with years of sun, the diamonds of the lattice throwing shadows across a wooden crate. I walked past it, stopped, and went back.
The colour is what stopped me. The green is the same green as a tin roof or an old school gate, the specific faded green of things that were painted once and left. Against the dark red of the crate it looks almost deliberate.
Straight on, no tricks, and the lattice does the composing for me.
